Blueberries in their own juice with sugar for the winter

This is an alternative way of harvesting berries for the winter. They can be frozen or rolled up in their own juice with a little added sugar. This method keeps the berries whole, fresh and with the highest amount of vitamins.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 5
Sort out the blueberries, remove small twigs, leaves and other small debris that could get to the berries. Also, select spoiled and crushed berries so that they do not spoil the taste of the seaming in the future. Rinse the berries under running water, put them in a colander, and then, when the water drains, dry them on a towel.
step 2 out of 5
Pre-pasteurize the container in which you will roll the berries. This can be done in many ways, for example, in the oven, microwave, using a multicooker or boiling water, choose the option that is most convenient for you. Pour sugar and berries into an already cooled and dried container.
step 3 out of 5
Fill a saucepan with water up to about halfway up the blueberry jar. Place a towel on the bottom, put a jar on top and bring the water to a boil over medium heat. Then reduce the heat to keep the water from boiling.
step 4 out of 5
After some time, the berries will boil a little and a free space will appear in the jar, which must be filled to the top with fresh berries and sprinkled with sugar. This must be done until the juice released from the blueberries completely covers the berries.
step 5 out of 5
Carefully remove the jar of boiled blueberries from the pan and close the lid tightly. Let the contents cool at room temperature.
