Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 6
Peel the onions, rinse and dry. Set aside one onion for making the sauce, and cut the other into small cubes. We also peel carrots, wash and rub on a coarse grater. In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil until hot and place the onions and carrots in it. Fry vegetables until soft and until a light blush appears.
step 2 out of 6
Add tomato paste to vegetables, mix and bring the resulting mass to a boil.
step 3 out of 6
In a separate container, mix the flour with water in the specified amount so that there are no lumps. Pour the flour mixture into the pan to the vegetable mass in a thin stream, without stopping stirring so that lumps do not form. Stir until smooth, adding salt, black pepper and dried dill in parallel. Bring the sauce to a boil and taste. If necessary, add salt or add more spices, then remove the pan from the stove.
step 4 out of 6
Rinse the rice and boil until half cooked in salted water. The approximate cooking time is ten minutes. Then we rinse the cereal again in cold water and let it drain. Put the minced meat in a bowl, add the prepared rice, chopped onion, garlic passed through a press, chicken egg, salt and black pepper to taste. Knead the minced meat thoroughly, ensuring an even distribution of the components throughout the mass. Then we form balls, separating a portion of minced meat and rolling it well between wet palms. The formed meatballs should be smooth and firm.
step 5 out of 6
Grease the baking dish with a small amount of vegetable oil and put the prepared minced meat balls into it. Water the future "hedgehogs" with cooked tomato sauce, trying to evenly distribute it around the entire perimeter of the form.
step 6 out of 6
Preheat the oven to a temperature of 190 degrees. We set the form to the middle-lower level and bake the dish for forty to forty-five minutes. We take the finished meatballs out of the oven and leave them on the table for ten to fifteen minutes. During this time, the dish will cool slightly, infuse, the "hedgehogs" will become juicier. When serving, sprinkle the meatballs with chopped herbs and serve with your favorite side dish.

Bon Appetit!
