Sort the peas, wash and soak overnight. Or a faster way: pour boiling water over the peas, leave for 30 minutes, then rinse.

Chop the smoked ribs into smaller pieces.

Peel and wash vegetables. Finely chop the onion, grate the carrots.

Saute the onions and carrots in vegetable oil in a heavy-bottomed saucepan, then add the ribs and soaked peas.

Pour in water and cook porridge over low heat, stirring occasionally. Cook until the peas are done. Cut the smoked pork into cubes. Add meat to porridge, salt and season to taste.
