Pea porridge with bacon and onions

Whole peas are considered healthier than split peas. However, it needs to be soaked for several hours before cooking. Cook the dish over low heat, stirring occasionally to avoid burning.

Pour the peas into a colander or strainer and rinse well.

Soak the washed peas overnight, but do not keep them for more than 10 hours.

Rinse the soaked peas and cook. After boiling, season with salt to taste, reduce heat and continue cooking until the peas are tender.

Peel the onion and chop finely. Cut the bacon into cubes. Pour some vegetable oil into a pan, fry bacon and onions until golden brown. Then transfer the cooked peas to a skillet and saute for 5 minutes over low heat.
