Pea porridge in a pot in the oven

It's not just porridge. This is a complete, hot, hearty dish that can be served for lunch. We cook the peas in the oven in pots along with the frying of vegetables and meat. For the scent, we take Provencal herbs and curries. To make the peas cook faster, you need to rinse them well and soak them for several hours before cooking. We recommend preparing such porridge in portioned pots - the meal immediately acquires a special mood.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 7
Pour the peas into a colander and rinse them well under a stream of cool running water. Rinse until the water flows completely clean and stops foaming. After rinsing, fill the peas with cold water and leave to soak for five to seven hours - this will speed up the subsequent cooking of the peas.
step 2 out of 7
Peel the onions, wash, dry and cut into small pieces. We clean the carrots from the upper skin, wash, dry and rub on a coarse grater. Pour such an amount of vegetable oil into the pan so that it covers the bottom with a thin layer. We heat it until hot and lay out the chopped onions and carrots. Fry vegetables with stirring over medium heat until soft and lightly browned.
step 3 out of 7
Dry the pork with a paper towel and cut into small pieces. Add chopped meat to the pan to the vegetables. Stir and continue to fry everything together for another eight to ten minutes, until the pork completely changes color.
step 4 out of 7
At the end of frying, sprinkle the frying with salt and black pepper. We put one bay leaf. Mix and remove from the stove.
step 5 out of 7
Put the fried meat with vegetables into portioned baking pots.
step 6 out of 7
Rinse the soaked peas again, let the water drain. We spread the peas on the meat with vegetables in pots. Pour hot water in the specified amount into a jug, add curry and Provencal herbs to it. Salt and put bay leaves. Mix well. Pour the peas in pots with the resulting liquid. We try to evenly distribute the bay leaves in the pots. The liquid should cover the peas by one and a half to two centimeters. Top up with boiling water if necessary.
step 7 out of 7
We tighten the pots with foil with the shiny side inward or close them with lids. Preheat the oven to a temperature of 170 degrees. We put the grate in the oven, put the pots on it. Cooking porridge for one and a half to two hours. Towards the end of baking, we taste the peas and evaluate the degree of doneness. If it is soft, then finish the baking. Serve hot pots of porridge. For decoration, you can sprinkle the porridge with fresh chopped herbs.
Bon Appetit!
