How to bake beets for borscht in foil in the oven

It is very convenient to have pre-baked beets - you can quickly cook borscht, beetroot and other dishes with the participation of this sweet root vegetable. You can bake in parchment or foil - this way the temperature concentrates around the vegetable, and the juiciness is well preserved.

We prepare a dish for baking beets: cover it with foil with the shiny side up around the entire perimeter and form the sides.

We thoroughly rinse each root crop under running water. If necessary, use a soft bristled brush to remove any dirt. If the beets have stalks, we cut them off so that a couple of centimeters of length remain. We put the prepared beets on the foil in a mold.

Cut a piece of foil to the size of the mold to cover the beets. We pinch the edges tightly around the perimeter.

Preheat the oven to a temperature of 200 degrees. We install a form with beets in it and bake for about an hour. It may take more or less time to bake, depending on the size of the root vegetables. To check the readiness, slightly open the foil and pierce the beets with a thin knife: if the blade enters without resistance, then the roots are ready. We take out the beets from the oven and transfer them to a plate to cool. After that, it is easy to clean.

We clean the baked root vegetables and use them for borscht, beetroot, chill, salads and other dishes. In the skins, baked beets can keep in the refrigerator for three to four days.
