How to bake beets for salad in foil in the oven

If you want to make a salad with beets, try baking them in the oven instead of boiling them. In this form, it has a sweeter and richer taste. And more vitamins are stored. To favorably set off the natural taste of beets, before baking, sprinkle them with vegetable oil and balsamic vinegar - you can not only add such beets to a salad, but also prepare vegetable snacks from them.

It is important to choose beets that are about the same size so that they bake at the same time. And it is advisable not to choose too large - such root vegetables will simply bake too long. Rinse the vegetables thoroughly in running water without cutting off the peel. Then dry each beet with a paper towel. We prepare pieces of foil of a suitable size for each beet - the vegetable will need to be wrapped on all sides. We put the beets on the prepared pieces of foil, located with the shiny side up, and prick each piece with a toothpick in several places.

Raise the edges of the foil - we form a kind of bowl. Water each beet with vegetable oil. You can use olive oil - it will give a characteristic aroma.

Then pour balsamic vinegar over each root vegetable. Alternatively, you can use apple cider.

The last step is to sprinkle the beets with salt.

Raise the edges of the foil and wrap the beets on all sides. We squeeze tightly with our palms. Preheat the oven to a temperature of 200 degrees. Place the beets wrapped in foil in a mold or on a baking sheet. We put it in the oven and bake it for forty to forty-five minutes. Towards the end of the baking time, you can check the degree of readiness of the beets: unfold the foil and pierce the root vegetable with a toothpick: if it enters without resistance, then the vegetables are ready.

We take the beets out of the oven, remove the foil and let cool. Remove the peel before use. Unpeeled beets can be stored in a container or bag and refrigerated for three to four days.
