Strawberries in their own juice without sugar for the winter

Usually, a fairly large amount of granulated sugar is used for preserving berries for the winter. It acts not only as a sweetener, but also as a preservative. However, there are ways to prepare berries without adding sugar. This method is especially appreciated by those who limit sugar consumption or love the natural taste of berries. This recipe is one of those.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 10
It is advisable to use fresh strawberries, recently picked from the garden. We sort it out: we select high-quality berries, without defects or damage. Rinse the prepared berries thoroughly in cool water.
step 2 out of 10
Place the washed strawberries in a sieve and let the excess moisture drain.
step 3 out of 10
Remove the stem from the washed berries.
step 4 out of 10
Wash the jars and lids thoroughly. Put the strawberries in the jars quite tightly. Cover with lids.
step 5 out of 10
Now we proceed to sterilization. Put a towel in a wide saucepan or basin, put jars of strawberries on it and pour in water in such an amount that it reaches the level of their "shoulders".
step 6 out of 10
We put on the stove and bring to a boil. Maintain a very slow simmering-simmering. Periodically open the lids and see how much the strawberries have settled and how much space is freed up.
step 7 out of 10
We periodically report the berries, cover them with lids and continue to sterilize.
step 8 out of 10
After about an hour, the jars will be completely filled with juice. At this moment, we increase the temperature of the stove and let the water around the cans boil for five minutes.
step 9 out of 10
Then we take out the jars one at a time and tighten them with dry sterile lids. After sterilization and closure, turn the cans upside down to check the tightness and leave to cool in this position
step 10 out of 10
We put the cooled jars with strawberries in a cool dark place for storage.
Bon Appetit!
