Cherry compote is considered one of the most delicious drinks in the range of homemade preparations precisely because of the richness of the taste of the cherry and the preservation of its density in the compote, so many housewives fill the jars completely with cherries. You are invited to prepare such a compote with the addition of citric acid, which will soften the cloying sweetness and will be a preservative. If you fill the jars with berries completely, then the compote must be sterilized.
