It is worth starting cooking with the most difficult and time-consuming process. Processing berries will take patience. First, look at raspberries and blueberries for tainted fruits. Move them away from the rest of the berries. You don't need to wash the raspberries, so you can set them aside right away. Transfer the blueberries to a large bowl or saucepan and fill with water. Debris should float to the surface, which must be removed with a piece of clean cloth. Leave the berries in the water for about 30 minutes. After that, rinse the blueberries well. Spread paper towels on the table and place the berries on top of them. Leave the blueberries to dry.

Now we need to sterilize the jars. First, rinse them well with baking soda. Heat a little water and scald the jars and lids. If you don't have time to spare, you can stop at this stage. However, it is advisable to then fill the kettle with cold water and move it to the stove. Wait for the water to boil. Place a jar on the spout of the teapot. Steam must get into it. Keep it in this position for several minutes. If you don't have such a kettle in your kitchen, use a regular saucepan. The main thing is for steam to fill the jar. After that, put it on a towel, which must be spread out on the table in advance. You do not need to wipe them additionally.

We begin to prepare the sugar syrup. Pour water into a saucepan. We put it on a high fire. When the water boils, start gradually adding sugar to it. It is best to do this in several steps. Stir the sugar constantly to dissolve quickly. Add citric acid to the solution and stir again. Thanks to this ingredient, the compote will be able to reach the winter. When the sugar syrup is done, turn off the heat and remove the pot from the stove. Strain the syrup through cheesecloth. This will make the compote more transparent.

Pour blueberries and raspberries into the jars. Distribute them equally. Pour the sugar syrup over the berries. Cover the jar with a lid. Place a small piece of cloth on the bottom of the pot. Place a jar on it. Transfer this structure to the stove and fill it with a little water. Wait for the water to boil and turn the heat down. After that, keep the jar in this position for another 30 minutes. After that, remove it from the pan. Screw the cover back on. Turn the jar over and place it on a towel. When the jar is completely cool, transfer it to a cool and dry place, which must be selected in advance. It contains your drink and will wait for winter.
