Cooking process

step 1 out of 5
Let's start making compote with the most tedious and long process. We need to sort and process all the blueberries. To do this, pour it into a small basin or ordinary saucepan. Pour warm water over the berries. Leaves and other debris that could get lost among the fruits should float to its surface. Remove all of this from the surface of the water. After that, leave the blueberries to infuse for 30-35 minutes. When the time is up, rinse the berries several times and pour them into a colander. In it, most of the unnecessary liquid will drain from the blueberries. Spread a tea towel on a flat surface. Put the fruits on it and leave the blueberries to dry completely.
step 2 out of 5
We start sterilizing cans for the future compote. We wash them in warm water. For this, it is better to use baking soda, rather than a regular detergent. Fill a small saucepan with water and place it on the stove. Wait for the water to boil. After that, scald the jars and lids that you are going to tighten. Spread a large tea towel on the table. Place the jars on it and leave them to dry completely.
step 3 out of 5
Let's start making sugar syrup. Fill a saucepan with cold water and transfer to heat. Wait for the water to boil. After that, start gradually, adding granulated sugar in small portions. Remember to stir the solution constantly. You can change the amount of sugar. Thanks to this, the compote will be more or less concentrated. A more concentrated drink is good because it can be diluted and the amount of compote obtained can be increased. Stir the syrup constantly to completely dissolve the granulated sugar crystals. You can add a little mint or lemon zest to it. When the granulated sugar has dissolved, continue boiling the syrup for 2-3 minutes. Then turn off the stove and leave the syrup on it for about 5 minutes. Then strain it with regular cheesecloth. This will make the compote more transparent.
step 4 out of 5
Fill processed jars with blueberries. Pour the prepared sugar solution over them. Make sure the jars are warm. Otherwise, the glass may crack. Then you have to look for a new container for compote. Cover the jars and screw tight. Place them upside down on a tea towel. Wrap the jars with a warm blanket or towel. Wait for them to cool completely. After that, you can transfer the compote to a cool and dry place, where it will be stored until winter.
step 5 out of 5
Blueberry compote is ready for the winter. Now you can feel the taste of summer even on the coldest and snowiest day of the year.Such a drink is distinguished not only by its bright and rich taste, but also by the many useful components that it contains. You should try to cook such a compote once, and you will not be able to stop.
