Ingredients
Cooking process
To prepare compote, you must use a fresh forest harvest. The berries should be ripe and very sweet. If a sour smell begins to emanate from blueberries, you should not use such a product in cooking. We proceed to the longest process in this recipe - preparing the berries. We need to sort them out, removing various debris from the blueberries. To make it easier for yourself, pour the berries into a basin and fill them with warm water. Various leaves and other large debris will immediately float to the surface. You can also see some insects in the water that may have been hiding in the berries. Smaller debris can be removed with a clean piece of cloth. Simply put it in water and collect any remaining dirt. Rinse blueberries. It is advisable to do this several times. Then pour the berries into a colander and let sit for about a minute. So almost all the water will drain from the surface of the blueberries. Spread some tea towels on the table. Pour berries on them. Leave the blueberries to dry.
Now we need to sterilize the jars. To do this, rinse them several times in warm water. Fill the kettle with cold water and transfer it to the stovetop. When it starts to boil, place the first can on the spout of the kettle. Steam must fill it inside. Keep the jar in this position for a few minutes, and then place it on a towel. Wait for it to dry.
We lay out the berries in the jars. The amount depends on how concentrated you want the taste to be. Add a few slices of orange to the berries. Pour the prepared sugar syrup over everything. Remember to keep your jars warm. If you do not take into account this fact, the glass may crack and you will need another container. Tighten the lids, which must be scalded with boiling water in advance. Wait for the compote to cool completely. Then move the jars to a cool place. For example, in the closet or on the balcony.
