Chokeberry and apple compote in a 3-liter jar for the winter

Chokeberry (chokeberry) is a fruitful enough berry. Fresh berries are almost never eaten, due to the astringency of the taste, but a tasty and healthy compote is obtained from it. Aronia in compotes is often supplemented with other berries or fruits, and as an option for an assorted compote, there will be chokeberry with apple. The apple gives the compote a pleasant sourness and removes its astringency. We prepare compote by pouring 2 times and in 3-liter jars.

We sort out freshly harvested chokeberry (it is better to collect after the first frost), remove small debris, separate the berries from the branches and cut off the stalks. Then we rinse the berries in a colander well to remove the wax bloom on the fruits. Leave the chokeberry in a colander for 10 minutes to drain all the liquid.

Rinse the apples, cut them into slices and remove the seed pods.

We take clean, dry (no need to sterilize) 3-liter jars and put chokeberry and apple slices in them.

Boil clean water in a separate saucepan and pour boiling water over the contents of the cans, filling them to the top of the neck. Cover the jars with dry clean lids and leave for 15 minutes to infuse.

Pour sugar, calculated for the number of cans, into the same saucepan.

After the infusion time of the compote has expired, pour the water from the jars through a special lid to the sugar in a saucepan.

We put the saucepan on medium heat, mix the sugar until it is completely dissolved and boil, the syrup for 3 minutes from the beginning of the boil.

Then re-pour the berries and apples in the jar with boiling syrup. We seal the cans, check their tightness and put them on the lids. Chokeberry compote with apple is ready. We cover the jars with any blanket, and after cooling, we transfer them to storage in a dark and cool place.
