Strawberry compote with mint for the winter

Homemade strawberry compote is a great alternative to store-bought juices. Strawberry compote with the addition of mint leaves turns out to be moderately sweet, aromatic with a delicate strawberry-mint flavor.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 7
This amount of ingredients is calculated for a liter can. The concentration of the compote is not sugary, for consumption the compote does not need to be diluted with water. For compote, choose good dense berries. Before you wash the berries, you need to soak them for 3-5 minutes in cool running water so that the sand from the berries moves away and settles to the bottom. Put the strawberries in a colander, rinse well under running water and leave excess moisture to the glass. Then remove the stems from the strawberries.
step 2 out of 7
We wash the compote jars with baking soda, rinse well with water and put the neck down in the oven on the grill. We sterilize the jars in the oven at a temperature of 110-120 degrees for 7-10 minutes. After that, we take out the jars and let them cool down a little. Put strawberries in a cooled jar.
step 3 out of 7
Pour water into a small saucepan, put on fire and bring to a boil. After the water has boiled, add sugar to it and mix well until all the sugar is dissolved. After that, boil water for about a minute and remove from heat. Put mint leaves in a jar of strawberries and pour hot syrup over the berries.
step 4 out of 7
Cover the jar with compote with a boiled lid. Cover the jar with a warm blanket and leave for 5-7 minutes, so that the berries are slightly steamed.
step 5 out of 7
After that, remove the lid from the jar, remove the mint leaves, cover the jar with a nozzle with holes and pour the compote into a saucepan, put it on fire and bring to a boil.
step 6 out of 7
Add citric acid to a jar of berries and fill the berries with boiled syrup to the very neck.
step 7 out of 7
We close the jar with compote with a boiled lid, turn the jar upside down and leave it to cool completely in a dark place at room temperature. Then we remove the compote for storage in a dark, cool place so that the strawberry compote does not lose its bright saturated color.
