Red currant and orange compote in a 3-liter jar for the winter

Many housewives know that citrus fruits decorate any compote and give it a pleasant aftertaste. So the red currant compote with orange transforms and makes the drink look like "Fanta", which children really like. We prepare compote, for safe storage and, taking into account that children will drink it, with sterilization. You can change the proportion of currants and sugar to your liking and make the drink not very sweet.

It is better to sterilize a clean 3-liter jar for compote in advance over hot steam, it will be more reliable.

First sort the red currants thoroughly, removing damaged fruits. Then separate the berries from the twigs and rinse in a colander under running water or in a large bowl, changing the water several times.

Rinse the orange with a brush to wash off all the chemicals from the surface, then wipe it dry with a napkin. Cut a half of a pure orange into quarter rings along with the zest.

Pour the washed currants into the prepared jar and put the orange slices on top.

In a separate saucepan, boil the syrup using the calculated amount of water and sugar. Boil the syrup for a few minutes.

Pour the currants with orange in a jar with hot syrup and cover it with a lid. Cover a large pot for sterilization with a tea towel and place a jar of compote in it. Then pour hot water into the saucepan up to the level of the can's shoulders or (in a shallow saucepan) up to half the can.

Bring the water in a saucepan to a boil over high heat and then sterilize the compote over low heat for 20 minutes.

After the sterilization time has elapsed, carefully remove the jar from the pan and seal it tightly. Then place it on the lid. It is not necessary to wrap the compote with a "fur coat". After complete cooling, transfer the compote from currant with orange to any dark place for storage.
