Cherry and red currant compote in a 3 liter jar for the winter

Due to the fact that cherries, like red currants, are very sour in taste, the compote will not turn out sugary sweet, but on the contrary, very balanced. These two berries are in perfect harmony with each other not only in taste, but also in color, which has a positive effect on the appearance of the compote.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 6
To prepare a delicious compote, we recommend taking ripe and undeformed berries. Then we cut off the tails at the cherry, and remove the red currant from the branches.
step 2 out of 6
After that, we thoroughly rinse the cherries in an abundant amount of water and transfer them to a colander so that excess water drains off. We repeat the same with red currant berries.
step 3 out of 6
While our berries are drying out, we sterilize the jars. This can be done in any way that is familiar to you, using a microwave oven with an oven, or simply sterilizing over steam.
step 4 out of 6
In order not to waste time, let's make sweet sugar syrup. We heat water in a saucepan and gradually add sugar to it. Stir everything well and bring to a boil. After that, literally immediately turn it off.
step 5 out of 6
By this time, the cans had already been sterilized, and the berries had dried. Therefore, we go directly to the main stage. We put cherries on the bottom of the jars, and only then red currants.
step 6 out of 6
Fill everything with sweet syrup and close tightly with sterilized lids. Banks must be checked for leaks on all sides. And only after that we turn the compote upside down, wrap it in a blanket and leave it until it cools completely. This completes the preparation of the cherry compote. We send it to a place intended for storing seals for a long time.
We wish you delicious compotes!
