Cherry and currant compote

In the summer, I try to prepare various berries in large quantities, or rather in such quantities that my freezer allows me to. I often cook compotes, jelly or fruit drinks from frozen berries. Today I want to share a recipe for compote from frozen cherries and red currants.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 6
Prepare the necessary ingredients for the cherry and red currant compote.
step 2 out of 6
If you are using frozen berries, you do not need to defrost them first.
step 3 out of 6
Take a heavy-bottomed saucepan and draw in cold water. I cooked compote in a five-liter saucepan. Boil water and add the required amount of granulated sugar. Adjust the amount of granulated sugar according to your own preferences.
step 4 out of 6
When the granulated sugar is completely dissolved, add the frozen cherries and bring the compote to a boil over medium heat. When the cherries have surfaced, reduce heat and simmer for a few minutes.
step 5 out of 6
Then add the frozen red currants and bring the drink to a boil. Remove from heat. Cover the saucepan with compote and let cool completely in this form for about 1.5 hours.
step 6 out of 6
During this time, the compote will infuse well. Serve the cooled compote in portions in beautiful glasses or glasses.

Enjoy!
