Apple and rhubarb compote

Few know that a vegetable plant like rhubarb can be used to make compote in combination with various fruits and berries. All this is due to the unusual taste of the plant, which has a characteristic sourness. Apple and rhubarb compote is an example of how the aforementioned plant can be successfully combined even with not very sweet fruits.

Prepare the food you need.

Rhubarb must be thoroughly washed and peeled. Cut the plant into pieces of three to four centimeters.

My apple. Remove the core and cut it into slices of medium thickness.

In the meantime, we put the pan on the fire, after pouring three liters of water into it. Immediately after boiling, throw a cinnamon stick into the water.

After five minutes, dip the chopped rhubarb and apple into the water, as well as a sprig of mint and sugar to taste.

When the water boils again, remove the cinnamon stick from it, cover the pan with a lid and turn off the heat. Before serving, let the compote brew for at least six hours in a cool place, removing a sprig of mint from it.
