Lazy cabbage rolls with rice and cabbage

Lazy stuffed cabbage rolls for lunch are a great solution, because it's easy to cook them, and it won't take much time. The highlight of the dish is a rich, thick vegetable gravy, which makes cabbage rolls juicier and favorably sets off the taste of meat.

We prepare products for lazy cabbage rolls. If necessary, defrost the minced meat in advance. We wash the tomatoes, dry them and grind them with a blender until they are mashed. We wash the carrots, peel them from the top. Peel the garlic and onions.

We wash the white cabbage, dry it and chop it with a knife as thin as possible.

Place the chopped cabbage in a suitable container and pour boiling water over it. Leave for 10-15 minutes and drain the water. After this procedure, the cabbage will become noticeably softer and more tender.

We wash the rice until clear water and set to cook on the stove. Cook for 10 minutes until half cooked. If not all of the water has boiled away by this time, drain the excess.

Cut the onions into small cubes. Heat some vegetable oil in a frying pan and put chopped onion there. Pass on medium temperature until translucent.

Rub the carrots on a coarse grater and add to the onion, stir and continue to brown for seven to ten minutes, until the carrots are soft and slightly brown. At this stage, remove a third of the frying with a spoon into a separate bowl. Add flour and tomato paste to the rest of the frying in the pan, mix thoroughly without removing it from the stove.

Pour tomato puree into the pan, add salt, a pinch of sugar and black pepper, mix. Add 2-3 cups of water and continue simmering for about two to three minutes.

Turn off the stove, and put the garlic passed through a press into the gravy, mix.

In a bowl, mix the minced meat, rice, prepared squeezed cabbage, egg, salt and pepper.

The consistency of the mass turns out to be thick, from which it is convenient to form stuffed cabbage.

Grease the form in which the cabbage rolls will be baked with a small amount of vegetable oil and spread the previously postponed frying around the entire perimeter.

On top of the frying, lay out the formed cabbage rolls close to each other. We preheat the oven to a temperature of 200 degrees and put the mold with cabbage rolls on the middle level. We bake for 20 minutes.

After the specified time has elapsed, pour the prepared gravy into the mold, trying to evenly cover all the cabbage rolls.

Reduce the oven temperature to 170 degrees, cover the mold with foil and continue to bake for another 40 minutes.

We take the finished cabbage rolls out of the oven, remove the foil and put them on portioned plates, not forgetting to put the vegetable sauce on each cabbage roll. You can decorate with chopped herbs.
