Lazy cabbage rolls in the oven on a baking sheet

It is generally accepted that lazy cabbage rolls are a simplified version of traditional cabbage rolls. However, this is not quite true. Lazy stuffed cabbage rolls are a separate, independent dish, which differs in the cooking technology and even tastes completely original. Oven baked with a special sauce - lazy cabbage rolls will compete with many hot dishes both in terms of healthy, nutritious composition and in terms of cooking time.

We prepare products for making lazy cabbage rolls. Minced meat must be defrosted if it was frozen, onions and carrots should be washed, dried and peeled.

Shred cabbage as thin as possible. Chopped cabbage with your hands must be thoroughly kneaded so that it softens and releases a little juice.

We wash the rice, place it in a saucepan, fill it with water and put it on the stove. Bring to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes until half cooked. Throw the rice in a colander, let the broth drain completely, and let the rice cool down. In a separate bowl, combine chopped cabbage and cooled rice. Finely chop one onion and add to the cabbage and rice. Pour salt and black pepper into a bowl, break the egg, spread the minced meat and mix everything thoroughly with your hands.

Cut the second onion into small pieces. In a frying pan, heat the vegetable oil to a hot state, spread the chopped onion and pass it until translucent at the medium temperature of the stove. Rub the carrots on a coarse grater, add to the onion and continue to sauté for a few minutes, until the carrots become soft and pliable.

To prepare the sauce, mix sour cream and tomato sauce in a separate bowl. Pour in an additional glass of water and stir well until smooth.

Pour the breadcrumbs onto a flat plate. From the previously prepared cabbage and meat mass, we form cabbage rolls in the form of meatballs by hand, roll them in breadcrumbs on all sides.

Lubricate the baking sheet slightly with vegetable oil and place the formed lazy cabbage rolls on it.

In the voids between the cabbage rolls, lay out the fried onions and carrots.

Fill the cabbage rolls and fry with the previously prepared sour cream and tomato sauce.

Preheat the oven to 200 degrees and put a baking sheet with cabbage rolls in it on a medium level. We bake for a total of 50 minutes.

After the first 20 minutes, open the oven and turn the cabbage rolls to the other side for even baking.We take the finished cabbage rolls out of the oven and serve on the table while they are hot. Decorate with fresh herbs if desired.
