Pickled mackerel with onions and carrots

Mackerel is a very tasty fish, especially if you marinate it yourself. It turns out to be moderately salty and juicy. Unlike the store-bought one, which often uses preservatives and a large amount of salt in order to keep the fish longer.

Peel the carrots and cut into slices.

Boil water, add salt, sugar, spices and carrots to boiling water. Let the brine simmer for 5 minutes. Then remove the pan from the heat and cool the brine.

Wash and clean the mackerel, cut off the head, fins and tail.

Cut the carcasses into slices 2-3 centimeters thick.

Cut the peeled onions into thin half rings.

Place the pieces of mackerel tightly in a jar, put onions and brine carrots between the layers of fish. Add vinegar and vegetable oil to the brine, pour them over the fish.
