step 1 out of 6
We start the process of making pickled watermelons by processing the berries. First, we need to rinse it well using a simple soap. Do this several times to accurately remove any dirt from the surface of the watermelon. Then transfer it to a towel to be placed on a table or any other flat surface. Transfer the watermelon to it. Leave the berry on a towel until it dries completely. Then cut the watermelon into small pieces that fit exactly into the jar. Optionally, you can completely peel or remove only the green part. Set the finished watermelon slices aside.
step 2 out of 6
We turn to sterilization of cans. For the beginning, we need to rinse them well in warm water, using baking soda for this. If for some reason it is not found in your kitchen, replace the baking soda with laundry soap. Pour water into a small saucepan. Put it on fire. When the water starts to boil, remove the pot from the stove and scald the jar lids with boiling water. You can choose the next sterilization method yourself. In this recipe, we will use steam. For this we need a regular kettle. Fill it up to about halfway with water. When it starts to boil, place the first can on his spout. Do it in such a way that it is filled with steam. It is necessary to hold the jar in this position for several minutes. Then place it on a kitchen towel.
step 3 out of 6
When the jars are completely dry, transfer the watermelon slices into them. They need to be placed very compactly so that as many pieces as possible fit inside the jar. Fill the kettle with cold water. Put it on high heat. Wait for the water to boil. Pour boiling water over the watermelon slices and leave them for about 10-15 minutes.
step 4 out of 6
When the time is up, drain the water into a saucepan. To do this as neatly as possible, you can use a lid with holes. Place the pot back on the stove. When the water starts to boil, add a little sugar to it. Stir the solution constantly so that all ingredients dissolve quickly. Granulated sugar must be added gradually. When the last serving is dissolved in water, add salt to the saucepan. Stir the solution well. The last ingredient will be citric acid. It is thanks to her that you can be sure that your workpiece will be able to reach the winter and definitely not deteriorate.
step 5 out of 6
Add bay leaves and black peppercorns to the jars. Pour the prepared solution over the watermelon slices. Screw on the caps carefully.Make sure that no cracks appear on the surface of the cans. Turn the jars over and place them on a towel. In this position, the lids will be subjected to additional heat treatment. Roll the cans into a blanket or small blanket. Wait until they have completely cooled down, and then transfer them to a cool and dark place.
step 6 out of 6
The watermelons are ready! Now you can enjoy their sweet and pleasant taste. It's time to try what we got.
