Ingredients
Cooking process
It is recommended to start the preparation of this seaming by processing the watermelon. For convenience, you can put it in the sink. Turn on warm or hot water. You can wash the watermelon with both soap and baking soda. It is highly desirable to carry out this process several times. Transfer the clean watermelon to paper towels. They will absorb all the excess moisture that is on the surface of the watermelon.
Now we need to sterilize the cans well. We have to rinse each jar first. You can use baking soda or laundry soap to do this. You can carry out further sterilization in a more attractive way for you. For example, using steam or a microwave oven. Since we will do the seaming in a three-liter jar, we will choose the first method. For him we need a kettle. Pour water into it and put on high heat. When the water boils, place a jar on the spout of the kettle. It should be filled with steam. You need to keep the jar in this position for 4-5 minutes. Then place them on a kitchen towel. Put the lids in a plate and cover them with water. Place the plate in the microwave for about 5 minutes. Then put the lids next to the jars.
When the jars are completely dry, start spreading the watermelon slices in them. Do this compactly so that as many pieces as possible fit in the jar. Pour cold water into a saucepan. Put the dishes on the fire. When the water boils, pour it over the watermelons. Place the lid on the jars and let the watermelon brew for 15 minutes.
When the time is up, gently drain the water back into the pot. Return it to the fire. When the water starts to boil again, add granulated sugar to it. Stir the future brine well so that the crystals dissolve quickly. After the sugar, add salt to the water. Stir the brine again. The last ingredient is citric acid. Thanks to this ingredient, watermelons will definitely not deteriorate and will last until winter.
Add a spoonful of vinegar, a few black peppercorns, and a bay leaf to each jar. Pour the prepared brine over the watermelon wedges. Screw on the caps. It is very important that cracks do not appear on the jars. If this situation does occur, you should change the capacity. Place the jars on a kitchen towel after turning them over.If you wish, you can roll the cans into a blanket or small blanket. When they are completely cool, transfer them to a dark and cool place that you definitely need to find in your home.
