A beautiful and delicious shortcrust cake with a sweet filling of fresh strawberries, it is the perfect treat for an evening tea. It can be prepared from ingredients familiar to most housewives - flour, margarine, sugar and, of course, strawberries.

In a deep bowl, mash soft margarine with half the sugar (1/2 cup). Don't forget to add vanilla sugar. Pour baking powder into the flour and sift them together in a bowl to the margarine, ground with sugar. Knead the dough. It should be pliable and elastic. Cover the bowl with cling film and refrigerate while you prepare the pie filling.
Go through the strawberries, rinse them, and cut each berry in half. Transfer the prepared strawberries to a saucepan. Pour the remaining sugar there. Dissolve the cornstarch in the water in a small container. Pour into a saucepan with berries and sugar. Heat the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly, and turn off the heat.
Roll out the second part of the dough in the same way, but thinner than the first layer for the base of the cake was rolled out. Cut out figurines from the dough. It is convenient to do this with cookie cutters, however, if you do not have one, you can use a glass and make circles, or simply cut the dough into diamonds with a knife.
