Donskoy salad with green tomatoes

For fans of unusual vegetable winter salads, I recommend preparing the "Donskoy" salad with green tomatoes. The salad turns out with a rich bright taste and is perfect for any hot dishes. A fragrant appetizer is a great option for a festive table.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 11
The first step is to thoroughly wash the green tomatoes by placing them in a deep basin and flooding them with cold water. In the meantime, prepare the jars, rinse them thoroughly in warm water, and then sterilize the jars in the microwave, oven, or water bath. Boil the lids or pour over boiling water.
step 2 out of 11
Peel the onions and wash thoroughly
step 3 out of 11
Wash the bell peppers thoroughly in cold running water.
step 4 out of 11
Peel and seed the washed bell pepper, then cut into four or six pieces, depending on the size of the pepper.
step 5 out of 11
Cut the green tomatoes into small slices, after removing the stalks.
step 6 out of 11
Wash the cucumbers thoroughly and cut into slices.
step 7 out of 11
Put all the prepared ingredients in a deep container with a thick bottom, add the required amount of salt and granulated sugar, bay leaves and black peppercorns.
step 8 out of 11
Stir well and let sit for a few hours for the vegetable juice to stand out.
step 9 out of 11
Spread the salad in sterile jars, and then add the required amount of vegetable oil to each jar. Place the salad jars in a saucepan, cover the bottom with a kitchen towel, cover the jars with sterile lids.
step 10 out of 11
Pour warm water and the hangers of the jars, put the pot with jars over medium heat and bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, and sterilize the salad for about 15-20 minutes. Gently remove the hot salad jars, pour in the required amount of vinegar and screw well or roll up with a sterile lid sealer.
step 11 out of 11
Gently turn hot jars upside down, wrap them in a warm blanket or a terry towel and leave to cool completely in this form for 12 hours, then move the jars to storage in a cool, dark place.

Bon Appetit!
