Tomato and onion salad for the winter

We offer you a recipe for a tomato salad with onions and vegetable oil. The tomato slices in the salad are juicy, have a sweet and sour taste, and onions successfully complement them with their aroma. During the cooking process, we will sterilize the jars in boiling water, which will take a little longer than normal seaming. However, the amazing taste of the salad, obtained in the process of painstaking work, will justify the time and effort.

Put a sprig of dill on the bottom of a sterile jar. Peel the onion, rinse and cut into slices.

We wash the tomatoes under running water, dry them on a kitchen towel. Then we cut them in half and remove the stalks. Cut each tomato into 4 slices.

In a jar, alternating layers, put tomatoes and onion slices. Pour water into a saucepan and put on fire. After boiling, add sugar and salt to the water, mix well and boil for 3-4 minutes. Then add vinegar and boil for another minute, then remove the marinade from heat.

Pour the hot marinade into jars. Then add a tablespoon of vegetable oil to each jar.

Pour water into a large saucepan, put on medium heat and heat up the water. When the water is warm, place a cotton towel or napkin on the bottom of the pan. We put jars of salad in a saucepan and cover them with lids. Bring the water in a saucepan to a boil and sterilize the jars for 5-7 minutes.

After sterilization, carefully remove the jars from the pan using a grip and tighten them tightly with boiled lids.

We turn the cans upside down, cover with a warm blanket and leave to cool completely at room temperature. Then we put the jars for storage in a dark, cool place.
