Charlotte with cabbage in the oven

This is not a classic version of charlotte. Charlotte with cabbage is an unsweetened pie that will help diversify culinary everyday life and at the same time bring your family together for a delicious dinner. This dish is prepared from a minimum set of ingredients.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 10
At the very beginning, we will prepare the filling for the pie. Wash the cabbage and remove any excess. Next, chop (finely chop) the cabbage. Put a frying pan on the fire, pour in vegetable oil and let it warm up. Place the chopped cabbage in the pan, fry over medium heat. Do not try to give the cabbage a golden crust - it should just become soft as a result of frying. Average frying time is 10 minutes. Add salt almost at the end.
step 2 out of 10
Let's move on to the test. Beat one egg into a bowl. Whisk it lightly.
step 3 out of 10
Next, combine the required amount of kefir with the egg. For this recipe, it doesn't matter if kefir is from the refrigerator or at room temperature.
step 4 out of 10
Stir the contents of the bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
step 5 out of 10
In a separate bowl, combine baking powder and wheat flour. You can pre-sift them. After that, add the sifted flour and baking powder to the egg-kefir mixture.
step 6 out of 10
Knead the dough, avoiding the formation of lumps and achieving a homogeneous mass. As a result, it will turn out to be liquid.
step 7 out of 10
The walls and bottom of the baking dish must be greased with vegetable oil (it is allowed to replace it with butter). Fill the mold with half of the prepared dough, spread it evenly with a spatula or wooden spoon.
step 8 out of 10
Next, put the cabbage on the dough in the form. Take two eggs, whisk them a little and cover the cabbage with them.
step 9 out of 10
Finishing layer - pour out the second half of the dough and smooth it out. At this stage, you can notice a distinctive feature of charlotte with cabbage from any other pie - the cabbage filling is poured into the dough, and not placed inside it. For this reason, cabbage charlotte is often called jellied pie.
step 10 out of 10
Prepare the oven for baking - turn it on and let it heat up to 200 degrees. We put the charlotte there and wait 30 minutes until it is ready.

Bon Appetit!
