Beef shulum with potatoes and tomatoes

Hearty and rich soup is always present on the lunch menu. For a change, try shulum, a famous oriental soup. It is cooked in beef broth with lots of vegetables and herbs.

Wash the meat and cut into medium-sized pieces. Fry the meat in vegetable oil until golden brown, about 20 minutes.

Wash vegetables and herbs and chop coarsely.

Add tomatoes, peppers, carrots, onions and tomato paste to the meat. Pour boiling water over the frying and simmer for 30 minutes.

Then add the potatoes and a little more boiling water, salt and spices to taste, continue to simmer until the potatoes are tender.
