Cooking process

step 1 out of 6
It is recommended to start the preparation of pickled watermelons by processing our berries. Place the watermelon in the sink and turn on warm or hot water. Keep the watermelon under it for about 2 minutes. Then wash it off with plain soap. If time permits, do this several times. Transfer the watermelon to a table where paper towels need to be laid out in advance. They must absorb all the excess moisture that is on the surface of the watermelon. Then cut it into small pieces. Make sure they are sized to fit freely into the jar. Optionally, you can peel the watermelon. However, this step is optional. Set aside the finished watermelon wedges.

Now we need to sterilize the cans. To do this, we first need to rinse them well. It is advisable to use baking soda for this process. Dry the jars with a towel. Pour about 2 to 3 centimeters high into a jar of water. Then put it in the microwave at full power. Leave the jar in it for 5 minutes. Then take it out and pour out the water. Place the lids in a small bowl and cover them with water. Microwave them for 5 minutes too. Then rearrange the cans on a towel that you want to spread on the table in advance.
step 3 out of 6
When the jars are completely dry, transfer the sliced watermelon to them. Arrange them neatly and compactly so that as many pieces as possible fit in the container. Pour cold water into a pot or kettle. Place the dishes on the stove. When the water boils, pour boiling water into the jars. Cover them with lids and let the watermelons sit for about 15 minutes.
step 4 out of 6
When the time is up, you will have to drain the water into the pot. Place it on the stove. Wait for the water to boil. Reduce heat and add granulated sugar to it. Stir the solution constantly. This will help the crystals dissolve better in water. After the sugar, add some salt to the water. The last ingredient will be citric acid, which will definitely prevent your seaming from spoiling prematurely. If you want the solution to look more attractive, strain it with a sieve or cheesecloth.
step 5 out of 6
Add bay leaves and mint to jars to watermelons. Fill them with hot solution. Screw the lids on all the jars carefully. If cracks appear on the container, you will have to quickly transfer the seaming to another jar. Turn the jars over and place them on a towel. Roll them up in a large towel or blanket. Leave the jars in this position until they cool completely. After that, you will need to move them to a cool place.
step 6 out of 6
Such a dish will be an excellent dessert for a dinner or a festive table. You should try this recipe right now. Good luck!
