Cabbage solyanka is a very versatile dish. It can be served as a side dish or a separate dish, made into a pie filling, or added to a soup.

Place all ingredients in a large heavy-bottomed saucepan, sprinkle with salt and sugar, add sunflower oil and stir the contents of the saucepan. Put the saucepan over low heat, bring the hodgepodge to a boil and leave to simmer for 2 hours. Stir the vegetables periodically to keep them from burning.
After 2 hours, add bay leaf, pepper and vinegar to the hodgepodge, mix everything well again and remove the pan from heat. Spread the hot hodgepodge in sterilized jars, roll them up, leave for a day under a blanket to cool the seams completely. A tasty hodgepodge is ready for the winter, put it in a cold place for storage.
