Grated beets for the winter

Beets are a very tasty and healthy vegetable. But in order to cook it, you will need a lot of free time. Therefore, I suggest preparing grated beets for the winter. This appetizer will greatly simplify the preparation of your favorite dishes. To prepare this semi-finished product, you will need to boil the beets in advance.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 5
Wash the beets thoroughly in cold water, then place them in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Fill with water so that it completely covers the vegetables. Put the saucepan over medium heat and bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cook the beets for about 1.5 hours. Cooking time depends on the size of the fruit and the type of vegetable. Cool the boiled beets completely, and then peel them.
step 2 out of 5
Grate the peeled beets on a coarse grater. Place the grated beets in a heavy-bottomed saucepan. Place on medium heat and simmer for about 10 minutes.
step 3 out of 5
Then add the required amount of granulated sugar and salt. Pour in the required amount of vinegar about 5 minutes before cooking. Stir the vegetable mixture thoroughly. Prepare the jars, wash them well in warm water, and then sterilize in a water bath or microwave. You can also use an oven.
step 4 out of 5
Arrange the finished grated beets in sterile jars. Close the lids after pouring boiling water over them or boiling them in a separate saucepan. Turn the cans of beets upside down and wrap them in a warm blanket. Leave in this form until it cools completely for about a day.
step 5 out of 5
Then remove the blanket and move the cooled cans of beets to a cool place for storage. This appetizer can be used to make borscht or for your favorite vegetable salad.

Bon Appetit!
