Water is often added to raspberry jam to prevent it from burning, but this will greatly thin the final product and extend the cooking time.

Sort out the raspberries, remove the leaves with stalks and the rest of the garden debris. Pour the raspberries into a bowl of water with a little salt, leave for a couple of minutes. During this time, the bugs should leave all the berries.
