Yellow plum jam with orange

Plum jam made with the addition of orange is an incredibly tasty preparation for the winter, which contains a large amount of vitamins and nutrients that plums preserve even after heat treatment. In the process of cooking plums, pectin is released, which gives the jam a thick consistency after cooling. Since we rub the plums through a sieve before starting cooking, the consistency of the jam is tender and uniform, without the peel.

Cooking process

step 1 out of 6
For making the jam, we select ripe yellow plums, from which the pit is well separated. The number of plums in the recipe is indicated already in a purified form. We wash the plums under running water, put them on a kitchen towel and leave for 15-20 minutes to let the water glass. Then, with a sharp knife, cut the plums in half, remove the seeds. Put the peeled plums in a colander and rub them with a wooden spoon to get rid of the peel.
step 2 out of 6
We wash the oranges under running water, dry them with a towel and cut them into several pieces. Remove the seeds and grind the oranges with the peel in a blender.
step 3 out of 6
Combine sugar, oranges and water in an enamel bowl or heat-resistant container, stir and put on medium heat. Bring the syrup to a boil and boil until thickened, not forgetting to stir occasionally.
step 4 out of 6
We send the grated plums to the thickened syrup, mix, bring to a boil, reduce the heat and cook for 30-40 minutes, not forgetting to stir constantly.
step 5 out of 6
The finished jam should acquire a thick consistency. Do not forget that after cooling it will thicken even more.
step 6 out of 6
We put the finished hot jam on sterilized jars, twist with boiled lids and turn the jars upside down, wrap them with a terry towel. We leave the jam until it cools completely at room temperature, after which we put it in a cool dark place for storage.
