Dumplings with strawberries on kefir

Dumplings are a favorite dish in any Slavic family. The filling for dumplings can be either sweet or salty. Today I propose to cook delicious and aromatic dumplings with strawberries on kefir. This delicacy will certainly appeal to young children.

Prepare all the necessary ingredients for making kefir strawberry dumplings. Remove kefir from the refrigerator in advance and let it warm up at room temperature. Pour into a deep bowl, add granulated sugar, baking soda and salt. Mix thoroughly.

In several stages, sift wheat flour through a sieve, stir with a tablespoon as long as possible, then put the dough on a clean, dry work surface, mix well, cover with cling film and leave to rest for half an hour.

Sort the strawberries thoroughly, put in a sieve, rinse gently and let the excess liquid drain. Cut into 2-4 pieces, sprinkle with cornstarch or potato starch. Mix gently.

Roll out the rested dough on a clean dry table with a rolling pin into a layer 3-5 millimeters thick. Cut out the circles with a glass. Put the berry filling in the center, add granulated sugar to taste.

Connect the free edges of the dough and mold them well, pressing firmly with your fingers. Or use a special device for sculpting dumplings. While sculpting the dumplings, put a saucepan of water over medium heat, bring to a boil. Place the dumplings carefully in boiling water. Wait for the dumplings to float and cook for about 3 minutes.

Using a slotted spoon, carefully remove the hot dumplings from the saucepan and place on a plate. Serve ready-made dumplings with strawberries in portions with sour cream or butter. The cornstarch or potato starch in the filling will keep it from spreading and help keep it in shape.
