Casserole with ham, rice and tomatoes

Rice casseroles are a great way to give leftover rice a second life. There are a lot of ways to cook casseroles, and according to this recipe we will prepare an option with the addition of ham and tomatoes. We will lay out the basic rice mass in layers, and arrange the ham as a filling in the center. On a cut, this layout method looks very attractive, the main thing is not to be lazy and form the layers even. On top of the dish, generously grease the dish with sour cream and cheese - this will provide a golden brown crust on the surface and a special juiciness and richness of tastes inside.

Ingredients

Cooking process

step 1 out of 11
We wash the rice in plenty of water. Place the cereal in a saucepan, fill it with water, add some salt and cook after boiling for twelve to fifteen minutes. The rice should be almost cooked through, but still slightly firm. When baked, it will soften further. Throw back the cereal after cooking in a colander and rinse with cold water, after which we let all the liquid drain.

We wash the carrots, peel and rub on a coarse grater. Peel the onions, rinse and cut into small cubes with a knife. Heat vegetable oil in a frying pan and pour chopped onions and carrots into it. Fry with stirring for a few minutes, until the carrots are tender and the onions are translucent.
step 3 out of 11
Rinse and dry the tomato and bell pepper. Cut the tomato into small pieces, free the pulp of the pepper from the seeds and cut it in the same way as the tomato. Peel the garlic and pass it through a press. Add garlic, tomatoes and peppers to the pan to onions and carrots, mix, salt and pepper to taste and cook for one and a half to two minutes. After that, remove to plates, add chopped parsley, mix and let the mixture cool slightly.
step 4 out of 11
Mix vegetable frying, rice and egg.
step 5 out of 11
Peel the ham and cut into small cubes.
step 6 out of 11
Lubricate the baking dish from the inside with vegetable oil. We spread half of the rice mass, align well.
step 7 out of 11
Next, lay out the ham cubes in an even layer.
step 8 out of 11
Cover the ham with the remaining rice paste. Align the surface.
step 9 out of 11
Put sour cream in a bowl and rub hard cheese there on a fine grater. Mix, add black ground pepper. Distribute the resulting mass on the surface of the casserole, level it.
step 10 out of 11
Preheat the oven to a temperature of 230 degrees and put the casserole dish on the middle level. We bake for twenty five to thirty minutes. The casserole should be golden brown by the end of the specified time.
step 11 out of 11
Remove the prepared casserole from the oven and serve hot. Sprinkle with herbs before serving.
