The first step to home baking is to make a live sourdough. Moreover, in a modern apartment it is possible to do this from the very minimum set of products.

On the third day, the surface will begin to bubble and a slight fermentation smell will appear. Remove half of the starter, add 100 milliliters of water and 100 grams of wheat flour. Keep the starter in a warm place for another 24 hours.

After that, the leaven will be ready. It can be used to make bread right away or stored in the refrigerator, and it should be fed every 4-5 days.
